Exotic imported antique furniture on auction
A large variety of exclusive and exotic imported antique furniture will be the focus of Park Village Auctions’ upcoming general auction. That’s the news from PVA’s Elaine Hague who says that the exclusivity of the items on offer will surely pique the interest of interior designers and discerning collectors.
The assets comprising rare architectural pieces, antique furniture and decorative elements, light fittings and chandeliers, stem from Johannesburg Antiques (Pty) Ltd which is currently in liquidation under the masters reference number C20247/2014.
First to go under the hammer will be an assortment of authentic architectural pieces which include ethnic Burmese teak Gujarat Doors, Jali iron and Burmese teak balcony rails, Burmese window frame shutters, teak pillars, and a 19th century Gujarat teak carved screen.
Furniture to be auctioned includes a nine-leaf extended teak dining table, a Georgian teak bookcase, a teak Almira cupboard, a Regency linen cupboard, a Bengali church bench, a Burmese Teak table with a marble top, a refectory table, Italian armchairs, Chippendale Rosewood dining chairs, Burmese Teak Bajot tables with servers, chests of drawers, ottomans, coffee tables, and occasional tables among many other rare items.
Under the banner of lighting, a collection of classical chandeliers styled on old designs to modern fittings with an industrial appeal as well as a variety of lamp stands and lanterns will be sold.
Finally, a large collection of décor items and ornaments comprising antique mirrors, wood and stone figurines, bells, candlesticks, vases, marble basins, marble fountains, marble statues, brass and copper planters and bowls, Kothi iron pots to name a few will be on the block.
Viewing will take place on Wednesday the 30th of May from 10am to 3pm. The auction will commence at 10:30am on Thursday the 31st of May at PVA’s warehouse at 8 Prolecon Road in Prolecon, Johannesburg.
