Truck auction is an opportunity to expand fleets
Park Village Auctions latest truck auction will represent a rare opportunity for fleet managers to procure trucks at better-than-market prices

With the rising cost of buying and operating trucks, Park Village Auctions’ latest truck auction’ to be held at Nasrec later this month, represents a rare opportunity for fleet managers to procure trucks at better-than-market prices.

Exchange rate depreciation has led to significant price increases in recent times and has put new trucks largely out of reach of small and medium sized businesses. Even the country’s large fleet owners are feeling the pinch and desperately looking for alternatives to renew and expand ageing fleets.

Park Village Auctions’ upcoming truck auction therefore represents a timeous opportunity for hard-presses fleet owners and managers to procure good condition late model trucks and other ancillary vehicles to keep up with transport requirements. With many modern, fuel efficient trucks also on offer, the auction also represents an opportunity to replace gas-guzzlers with more efficient affordable models.

Says Park Village Auctions LeRoy Augustyn, “Fleet managers need to save as many costs as possible in an effort to offset rising fuel prices. Long haul delivery has been hit especially hard with drivers often filling their tanks with more than 600 litres. Due to recent fuel hikes this could cost more than R9000 at a time. As a result, some businesses are anticipating tens of thousands of Rands increase to their fuel costs and this is placing an enormous burden on their business and their customers.

“Our auction provides them with an opportunity to rationalise and buy the vehicles they want without compromise, at a cost that they can afford. Likewise, it provides savvy operators with an opportunity to seek out economical alternatives and systematically renew their fleet with economical alternatives,” LeRoy says.

The auction takes place at Nasrec Showgrounds, Gate 2, 1 Nasrec Road, Johannesburg South with viewing taking place the day prior from 10 am to 4 pm.

Rigid trucks include MAN, Mitsubishi, Nissan UD40, 80 and 90, Toyota Dyna, Hino and Tata rigid trucks. Truck tractor brands to go on the block include International, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, MAN TGA, Scania, Iveco, Hino, Renault, and Volvo.

There will also be a selection of trailers and earth moving equipment on the block, comprising flat deck link trailers, SA Truck Bodies, Henred Fruehauf, Afrit and Motor Trail flat deck, side tippers, Tautliner trailers, skidsteer loaders, excavators and backhoe loaders.
